Newtopia: How Jisoo and Park Jeong-Min Redefine Zombie Romance

A Love Story in the Midst of Chaos

Imagine a world where the streets of Seoul are no longer bustling with life but overrun by the undead. Amidst the chaos, two former lovers find themselves fighting not just for survival but for a second chance at love. This is the premise of Newtopia, combining the thrill of a zombie apocalypse with the emotional depth of a romance.

With a stellar cast, a gripping storyline, and a creative team behind some of Korea’s most acclaimed works, this drama is more than just another survival story—it’s a tale of love, resilience, and humanity in the face of unimaginable odds.

Synopsis: A Second Chance at Love in a World Gone Mad

Newtopia follows the story of Lee Jae-yoon (played by Park Jeong-min), a soldier struggling with self-doubt and the weight of leadership, and Kang Young-joo (played by Jisoo), a former engineering student turned office worker. The two have recently ended their relationship, but their lives are thrown back together when a sudden zombie outbreak engulfs Seoul.

As the city descends into chaos, Jae-yoon is tasked with leading his squad to protect civilians, while Young-joo must navigate the dangers of the zombie-infested streets to find him. Along the way, they confront their past, rediscover their feelings for each other, and fight to survive in a world where trust and love are as scarce as safety.

The series is based on the novel Influenza by Han Sang-woon and is brought to life by a team of industry heavyweights, including director Yoon Sung-hyun (Bleak Night, Time to Hunt) and screenwriter Han Jin-won (Parasite).

With its unique blend of romance, action, and horror, Newtopia promises to deliver a fresh take on the zombie genre while staying true to the emotional storytelling that K-dramas are known for.
